Malory Graham,

Aikido & Yoga Instructor

6th Dan Chief Instructor of Seattle Aikikai & 200 YTT Certified  Yoga Instructor

I believe that Change happens through the body.

My approach to teaching yoga is informed by my 25+ years of teaching aikido and a core belief that personal transformation happens through the body. I like yoga poses that feel good--that open and relax the body through flow and extension. Add some attention to breath with calming the mind and we've shared a restorative hour together. Along with my life passion for aikido and yoga, I've had tandem careers as a filmmaker and non-profit Executive Director. I've enjoyed making educational videos that promote women in aikido and have been deeply committed to the social justice/youth development field.

“At the heart of my teaching I am motivated by the transformational nature of movement arts. To watch a student walk into my studio with hunched shoulders and little body literacy or confidence and then see the change through daily practice over the years transform their presence in the world is awe-inspiring. Knowing that I am a facilitator of that process is to me the worthiest of callings. It is the thing I choose to do with this one wild and precious life.”
